Over the past two centuries we have seen the rise of schools and universities that answered to the demands and aspirations of the industrial age, and with great success. We are past that now and new questions inform our learning. We believe that schools will no longer hold the same form and significance in the near future. No longer institutions separated from society, but places for shaping society, incubating minds and initiatives of enabling collective creativity.
School Design Labs enable co-creative (re)design of schools as zones of ubiquitous learning, making and sharing. A lab provides a safe and experimental space of co-design and learning for the school community to develop visions, school plans, strategies, and (physical) learning environments. They empower teachers, students, and the wider school community to have a strong ownership and collective makership in the development of the school and its education.
